What can you use the app for?

BuildChatter is an application used to create a custom social media campaign through Facebook. The reporting tools can be used to measure results of any given app or campaign. It allows the user to check the age, gender, and location of fans. Demographic measurement is the key to managing a successful program.

What is the history and popularity of the app?

BuildChatter was founded in April 2011 and launched in February 2012 by President and founder John Macintosh. Unique visitor numbers are unavailable at this time. The web development firm is located in Toronto, ON. There is no other information that could be found about the company.

What are the differences to other apps?

The biggest difference between this and other app builders is price. The extremely high cost, up to $149 per month, will be prohibitive for many users. Most who could afford the plans don't need this service to increase traffic to their sites or to utilize viral marketing for their applications.

How does the web app look and feel to use?

There are various applications that users can access and use to try to generate attention and traffic to their businesses. The first of these is a fanpage. The Facebook fanpage app allows the user to upload a page or background image, enter message to drag and drop into position, generate and position website links, upload images to the gallery and customize the share message. The Video application allows users to upload a background image or choose a color, enter a message to drag and drop into place, upload a video and thumbnail image, generate and place a link to a website and create a custom share message. Another app allows users to create a video showcase with up to 5 videos with messages and thumbnails, as well as hyperlinked pages and a customized share message. The gifting app offers a platform for giveaways to fans. The voting app provides an interactive contest function to drive viral growth. The boutique app sets up a custom store with predesigned layout. It links buy buttons to the user's website or Paypal account. The sweepstakes function is similar to the gifting function, with entry forms to collect fan data for prizes. A coupon app provides a gateway to the user's website with a special deal. The showroom app is similar to the boutique with layouts for selling through the Facebook page. A custom quiz app is offered for entertainment. The polling app may be used for information gathering or for entertainment. Crowd Surge is the app that rewards fans for sharing with an additional contest entry for every one of their friends that enters.

Overall, the interface is relatively easy to use. The price, however, is tough to swallow, especially when you consider it is a monthly fee.

How does the registration process work?

Although the main page indicates a 10 day free trial with no credit information required, during testing, an account was unable to be established without credit card or Paypal information entry. Registration requires first and last name, email address, password, physical address, promo code, billing currency, plan selection, and billing information.

What does it cost to use the application?

There is a ten day free trial with no credit card needed. The Premium Plan for $39 per month, is best for small businesses. It unlocks all of the applications, allows one active page, has an unlimited fan count, integrated design tools, live edit capabilities, a customized share message, mandatory liking, and email support. The Professional Plan is $59 per month and is recommended for medium businesses. It also unlocks all applications, allows one active page, and unlimited fans. In addition to the services included in the Premium Plan, this plan also includes White Label and is video enabled. The Enterprise plan is offered at $149 per month. It is recommended for large businesses and all applications are unlocked. In addition to all of the features of the Professional Plan, Enterprise includes five active pages and support in the form of email or instant messenger.

Who would you recommend the application to?

At these prices, it is difficult to recommend the application. Also, the promise of the 10 day free trial that appears to be inaccessible is an issue. There is no way to really evaluate the interface and what a user will get for the exorbitant fees without the free preview. The prices read more like annual than monthly fees. Only businesses who really feel that these particular social media campaigns created through this app will be willing to sink the money into obtaining the ability to utilize more than one active page, and even that is pricey.
